Cause and Effect of:
1. Poor Soil Management- Erosion from wind or water could cause poor soil management. Luckily, the hammocks have thick layered soil and it's slightly elevated, so there won't be a ton of erosion like there could be in other locations. The effect of this would be trees dying a long with a lot of plants and some other organisms, since there won't be all of the minerals and nutrients the plants and trees will need to grow.
2. Deforestation and Urbanization- This would be caused by investors and farmers wanting to clear the land and cut down all the trees, so they can use it for people to live on and have shops and buildings. Or, farmers and ranchers would want to use the land for farms or ranches. The effect of this would be the populations of the plants and animals decreasing because their community of the Hardwood Hammocks got destroyed. Also, it could ruin the soil.
3. Air Pollution- This could be caused if there are any nearby roads outside of the Hardwood Hammock, because the cars and trucks driving on it would release emissions and smoke, which would travel to the Hardwood Hammock. The effect of air pollution would be the chemicals and gases harming the animals and organisms. Also, if the air pollution causes acid rain, the acid rain would fall from the sky and damage the leaves and stems of plants, and affect the amount of nutrients in the soil.
4. Water Pollution- Animal wastes or other agricultural wastes such as pesticides and fertilizers could cause water pollution in the Hardwood Hammocks. If a farm is nearby, the chemicals could travel and pollute the ponds. The effect of water pollution is animals becoming ill, because if they drink from the polluted water that has certain chemicals or wastes or eat the organisms that live in the water, they can get harmed.
